The Whole Envelope

One team for your whole home exterior.

An exterior project usually means juggling a siding company, a roofer, a window installer, and a painter — each waiting on the last. We've managed exterior renovations in Calgary for more than a decade the other way: one design for the whole envelope, one project lead, and long-term licensed trade partners who know our standards.

A completed exterior renovation by Suite Home Renovations in Mount Royal, Calgary

A siding company sees siding. A roofing company sees a roof. Neither is wrong — but nobody's looking at how your whole exterior works together, and the gaps between trades are exactly where exteriors fail: flashing that meets siding wrong, a roofline colour that argues with the cladding, three schedules that never quite line up, and three companies pointing at each other when water finds its way in.

One Accountable Team

Among exterior contractors in Calgary, we're not the specialist doing one system fast; we're the team that owns how every system meets the next one. If something isn't right, you call us, and we coordinate the right trade to return and make it right.

What's Included

What's included in our exterior renovations in Calgary.

One project can carry any or all of these — and this is also the landing point if you arrived looking for our old roofing, windows, decks, or landscaping pages, which now live here.

01

Siding & cladding

Fibre cement, vinyl, stucco repair, stone accents; wrapped and flashed properly underneath.

02

Roofing & roofline

Shingles, flashing, and ventilation treated as one system, not three line items.

03

Windows & doors

Replacement windows, front entries, and patio doors, sealed for Calgary's temperature swings — done on the same scope as the siding, while the wall is open.

04

Soffit, fascia & eavestroughs

The trim that quietly decides whether your walls stay dry.

05

Exterior painting & finishing

An exterior remodeling budget's best value-per-dollar, done last so it stays perfect.

06

Decks, fences & railings

Pressure-treated and composite decks, built to code with permits where size requires.

07

Garage doors & curb appeal

Often paired with our garage-building work.

08

Landscaping tie-ins & grading

Finishing the ground around the work so drainage moves away from the house.

Roofing, glazing, and electrical for exterior lighting are delivered through our long-term licensed trade partners, under our management and to our standards. We schedule them, we check the work, and we answer for it.

Built for Calgary

Built for Calgary's climate — hail, freeze-thaw, and chinooks.

Calgary is genuinely hard on exteriors, and material choices should start there — not with a catalogue. Hail is the obvious one: impact-rated shingles and resilient cladding cost more up front and tend to earn it back the first time a June storm rolls through. Freeze-thaw is the quiet one: water gets into a badly flashed joint or behind cheap cladding, freezes, expands, and pries things apart a little more every winter — which is why we're fussier about housewrap, flashing, and ventilation than about anything you can see from the street.

01

Hail

Impact-rated shingles and resilient cladding earn back their cost the first storm.

02

Freeze-thaw

Water in a badly flashed joint freezes, expands, and pries things apart every winter.

03

Chinooks

Enormous swings in a single day punish dark finishes and windows sealed wrong.

None of this means buying the most expensive option in every category. It means specifying for this city on purpose — and we'll tell you plainly where the upgrade is worth it and where it isn't.

Investment

How much do exterior renovations in Calgary cost?

Nobody on this page's search results will give you a number, so here's the honest picture, using our own ranges. An entry-level exterior or siding renovation generally runs $20,000 to $38,000. A typical exterior renovation lands between $38,000 and $55,000. A complex or high-end exterior — a larger or taller house, premium fibre cement, several systems replaced at once — starts around $55,000 and can pass $70,000. What moves the number: the size and height of the house, vinyl versus fibre cement, demolition, insulation, weather barriers, trim, site access, and any hidden wall damage found once the old cladding is off. Doing several elements in one coordinated project saves the repeated setup costs of doing them one at a time. These are early budgeting guidelines, not quotes — a detailed written estimate comes after we've reviewed the house and the full scope.

Tell us your budget comfort and we'll tell you honestly what it covers. Below these ranges? Say so — phasing an exterior is normal, and we'll tell you what to do first.

Entry-level project

Smaller or single-storey home, vinyl cladding, straightforward access

$20,000 – $38,000
Most common Typical project

Average two-storey, mixed materials or more than one element in scope

$38,000 – $55,000
Complex or high-end

Larger or taller house, premium fibre cement, several systems at once, hidden repairs

$55,000 – $70,000+

Ranges are early budgeting guidelines, not quotes. Hidden wall damage, engineering, drawings, major structural repairs and unusual site conditions all move the final number — a detailed written estimate comes after we've reviewed the property, the materials, and the full scope, and it's the number you approve before anyone starts. Any Scope

Exterior home renovations: one system or the whole house.

If you only need siding, or only windows, that's a real project and we're glad to take it on — small exterior renovations get the same project lead and fixed written scope as full transformations. And if the whole exterior needs work but the budget says "not all at once," we'll map the sequence honestly: what has to happen first (anything letting water in), what should be bundled so you're not paying for scaffolding and site setup twice (siding with windows; fascia with roofing), and what waits gracefully (paint, decks, landscaping).

Our exterior renovation services in Calgary aren't gated behind a big-project minimum — phasing over two seasons is often the smartest way to do this, and we'll say so.

The Clearest Case

Windows are the clearest case. The cheapest time to replace one is while the wall is already open — if we're re-siding your house, the windows come out and go back in on the same scope, with one crew, one schedule, and one warranty covering both the wall and what sits in it. Done separately, you pay twice to open the same wall, and the seam between two contractors is exactly where a leak ends up with nobody to own it.

They arrived promptly, were very professional and did an excellent job matching the railing with the existing railing installed in the rest of the house, as well as updating the railing to ensure it was up to code.

Timing

When is the best time for exterior work in Calgary?

The honest answer: most exterior work happens May through October, but the smart planning starts months earlier. Siding, decks, and exterior paint want warm, dry stretches; roofing crews work shoulder seasons when the weather cooperates; and windows can go in most of the year, one opening at a time. The catch nobody mentions is lead times — cladding, windows, and doors are ordered weeks or months ahead, so a build that starts in May was designed in February. Winter is when the good planning happens: design, selections, permits, and a locked schedule, so your project starts when the weather allows instead of joining the spring queue.

Plan & design Late fall – winter
Order & permit Winter – early spring

Do I need a permit for an exterior renovation in Calgary?

Often not — but it depends on scope. Like-for-like work (re-siding, re-roofing, replacing windows in the same openings, paint) generally proceeds without a development permit in Calgary. Permits enter the picture when the work changes structure or footprint: larger and elevated decks, structural roofline changes, new or enlarged openings, and anything that alters the building's shape. The City of Calgary's home improvement permit information covers decks and accessory structures. Practically, you don't need to memorize any of it: we confirm exactly what your project requires during scoping, prepare what the City needs, and manage the permits and inspections as part of the work. If a contractor waves off the deck permit question, wave off the contractor.

Can you replace siding, roofing, and windows in one project?

Yes — that's the point of one accountable team. One design, one schedule, and trades sequenced so the housewrap, flashing, and finishes integrate properly instead of each installer working around the last one's shortcuts. It's also usually cheaper than three separate projects, because site setup and scaffolding are paid for once.

Will an exterior renovation lower my energy bills?

It can, honestly — better windows, air sealing, and insulation-backed cladding all reduce heat loss, and in Calgary's climate that's not nothing. But the size of the saving depends on what your house has now, so we won't promise you a number. What we will do is tell you during the assessment which upgrades actually move the needle for your specific house and which are cosmetic.

Who will be working on my home?

Our project lead plus long-term licensed trade partners — siding, roofing, glazing, carpentry — who've worked to our standards for years, many for close to a decade. We schedule them, we check the work, and we answer for it. You'll know who's coming and when.

Do you take on exterior renovations outside Calgary?

Yes — we work in Airdrie, Cochrane, and Okotoks, and other communities around Calgary. Exterior and deck projects are some of our most common out-of-town work.
