Kurtis Frederick
Kurtis grew up around both sides of this business: a carpenter in the family taught him how a house goes together, and a realtor taught him what makes one worth living in. He spent weekends on job sites as a kid, which is a slower education than a course but a harder one to forget.
At Suite Home Renovations he's usually the first person a homeowner talks to, and he's the one who scopes and estimates the work — figuring out what a project actually involves before anyone quotes a number on it. He still does framing and finishing carpentry himself, and he's the one solving the problem on site when a wall isn't where the drawing said it would be. How he puts it: build it properly, plan ahead, and solve problems before they turn into bigger problems.
Away from work he gives a lot of time to Calgary organisations, often in a leadership role, and if it's above zero he's outside — travelling, at the lake, or beside a fire pit with friends.
"Kurtis is a real craftsman, his doors fit like a glove. He makes difficult carpentry jobs look easy."
